Sofia Kourtesis - Fresia Magdalena (2021, Technicolour). (19/03). EP 2021 per la producer peruviana Sofia Kourtesis, che arriva a distanza di un anno da Sarita Colonia.
Originaria di Lima e poi di base a Berlino, Sofia Kourtesis è attiva da metà anni 10 ed ha pubblicato in precedenza anche per Studio Barnhus.
La tracklist di Fresia Magdalena comprende brani tech house filanti (La Perla), la french house di By Your Side, la tropicaleggiante Nicolas (pura house euro-latina) e le due bombe deep house Juntos e Dakotas.
E' l'EP della producer che guarda in modo più diretto all'America latina per via delle sue sonorità, seppure influenze etno erano presenti anche (e soprattutto) nell'EP d'esordio Sofia Kourtesis. Ed è anche anche l'EP più intimo della producer, la Fresia del titolo è difatti il nome della madre, un'attivista peruviana per i diritti della comunità di Magdalena del Mar (periferia di Lima).
Abbiamo seguito la parabola di Sofia sin dall'inizio, ed anche con questo EP siamo stati ripagati per l'attenzione riposta.

On one of her regular extended trips home, the process of making the EP began with the collection of field recordings around the city of Lima where Kourtesis' family currently live and specifically Magdalena, their district. "I look at songs like a collage" she says, "I put all the samples at the forefront and create music around them". Then finished between Peru and Berlin, the result finds both aspects of her life bleeding effortlessly into her music and weaving around themes and a broad range of styles that remain universal.
