In honor of what should have been the "First Monday In May" at the Metropolitan Museum Of Art in New York City, here is a look back to Zendaya's fourth MET Gala appearance back in 2018. The MET Gala Exhibition theme for 2018 was "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion And The Catholic Imagination" which examined the history of traditional garments worn in Catholicism, and also how Catholic themes have been reinterpreted and reimagined through Haute Couture fashion. This particular MET Gala was strict due to the theme revolving around Catholicism being that it had to be approved by the Vatican and overlooked by the Arch Diocese of New York City, and out of respect, every guest tried their best to be on theme.
This time around, Zendaya wasn't tied to any particular brands, so she was free to wear anybody. According to her Image Architect LAW Roach, many brands approached him with interest in dressing Zendaya for the MET Gala, but given that Zendaya and LAW wanted to channel a strong female figure connected to Catholicism, he had the image of Saint Joan Of Arc in mind for Zendaya, they choose the house of Versace. The house of Versace was a great choice to interpret the Joan Of Arc look considering that their Atelier works very well with metals and chainmail materials, and also considering that chainmail and crosses were predominantly featured in the final collection of Gianni Versace.
The design of the dress was so intricate, which was an embroidered cold shoulder evening gown with a long train, and heavily armored accessories with the signature Versace Medusa emblem on the neckline badges. During the party, Zendaya removed the detachable neck armor.
For accessories, Zendaya wore jewels all courtesy of Tiffany & Co. wearing the Hardwear Triple Drop Earrings, Hardwear Ball Pendant, Hardwear Ball Ring, the Paper Flowers Cluster Rings, and the Paper Flowers Diamond Ring.
For shoes, Zendaya didn't choose her usual classic pump, the styling of this look called for a platform sandal, and for this look, Zendaya went with the Jimmy Choo "Max" 150mm Platform Pump in Metallic Silver.
